When the nerve of a tooth dies or becomes infected because of decay, trauma, or unknown factors, a
Root Canal must be done. This even sounds painful - but it doesn’t have to be. Root canals, also
called Endodontic treatment, can save a tooth that would otherwise have to be extracted
because of
infection or disease. A root canal procedure removes the diseased tooth’s pulp (the nerve) and then
seals off the root from the surrounding tissue so there will no longer be an infection. You can save
often save a severely decayed and even infected tooth through a Root Canal.
Deep tooth decay causes inflammation and damage to nerve and pulp tissue in the Root Canal.
Repeated dental work, large cavities, chipped, cracked or broken teeth, trauma to the jawor
surrounding area may all cause nerve and pulp damage and decay.
An x-ray of the affected tooth will reveal any indication of damage to, or decay of nerve and pulp tissue.
If any of these conditions are detected, a Root Canal procedure is necessary. First, anaccess hole is
drilled into the affected tooth. Long, narrow instruments are then introduced deep into the tooth's root
through this opening to remove dead or decayed nerve tissue and pulp, along with accumulated
debris. All of this material is flushed away with water or a chemical solution. The tooth cavity is then
cleaned, or scrubbed, filled and sealed to prevent leakage. In our dental tourism office, Root Canals
are done ONLY by our Root Canal Specialist, Dr. Ramiro, not by a
general dentist as usual you
witness in your local dentist. Dr. Ramiro is a lecturer at
the Baja California state dental school in the
Endodontics Program. He is famous for being a fast, perfectly mastered
painless Root Canal
specialist in Tijuana, Mexico.
