Oral and maxillofacial surgery is the specialty of dentistry that includes the diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. One of the real dangers of this cancer, is that in its early stages, it can go unnoticed. It can be painless, and little in the way of physical changes may be obvious. Your dentist or doctor can see or feel the precursor tissue changes, or the actual cancer while it is still very small, or in its earliest stages.

The most important step in reducing the death rate from oral cancer is early discovery. No group has a better opportunity to have a positive impact on this than members of the dental community.

DENTAL IMPLANTS
Mexico Dentists - Dental Implants

Dental Implants in Mexico are the best technology that provides replacement for lost or missing teeth. Unlike bridges, which can sacrifice the vitality of healthy surrounding teeth, and complete or partial dentures, which may be uncomfortable or inconvenient to wear, implants work by mimicking the structure of natural teeth. The dental implants go surgically anchored into the jawbone. After they are placed, a period of healing is necessary in which the implants integrate with the bone.

FACIAL INJURY
Causes Maxillofacial Injuries

Maxillofacial injuries, also referred to as facial trauma, encompass any injury to the mouth, face and jaw. Almost everyone has experienced such an injury, or knows someone who has. Most maxillofacial injuries are caused by a sports mishap, motor vehicle accident, on-the-job accident, act of violence or an accident in the home. The principles for treating facial fractures are the same as for a broken arm or leg. The parts of the bone must be lined up (reduced) and held in position long enough to permit them time to heal. This may require six or more weeks depending on the patient's age and the fracture's complexity. In Dentist Mexico Tijuana do this treatment with high quality.

  TMJ
Tempomandibular Joint Dysfunction

"TMJ" stands for TemporoMandibular. There are two TMJs, one in front of each ear, connecting the lower jaw bone (the mandible) to the skull. The joints allow movement up and down, side-to-side, and forward and back-all the mobility necessary for biting, chewing and swallowing food, for speaking and for making facial expressions. It is by far the most complex and most over-worked joint in the human body. Over 10 million people in the USA suffer from TMJ or temporomandibular joint syndrome, a condition in which the temporomandibular joint does not function correctly. This joint connects the temporal bone, which is the bone that forms the sides of the skull with the jawbone.

  WISDOM TEETH
Impacted Wisdom Teeth

Impacted wisdom teeth fall into one of several categories. Mesioangular impaction is the most common form (42%), and means the tooth is angled forward, towards the front of the mouth. Vertical impaction (37%) occurs when the formed tooth does not erupt fully through the gum line. Distoangular impaction (5%) means the tooth is angled backward, towards the rear of the mouth. And finally, Horizontal impaction (3%) is the least common form, which occurs when the tooth is angled fully ninety degrees forward, growing into the roots of the second molar.

  SLEEP APNEA

Sleep apnea is a common disorder that can be very serious. In sleep apnea, your breathing stops or gets very shallow while you are sleeping. Each pause in breathing typically lasts 10 to 20 seconds or more. These pauses can occur 20 to 30 times or more an hour. The most common type of sleep apnea is obstructive sleep apnea. During sleep, enough air cannot flow into your lungs through your mouth and nose even though you try to breathe. When this happens, the amount of oxygen in your blood may drop. Normal breaths then start again with a loud snort or choking sound. When your sleep is upset throughout the night, you can be very sleepy during the day. With sleep apnea, your sleep is not restful because:
